TechsCurrent is a technology news and reviews platform that I founded in 2021 to deliver clear, accessible, and insightful coverage of the ever-evolving digital world. In a landscape often overwhelmed by jargon and complexity, TechsCurrent set out to make technology understandable for a broad audience — from casual users to budding tech enthusiasts. As the Editor-in-Chief and lead developer, I oversaw the site’s creation, editorial direction, and growth strategy, aiming to combine journalistic integrity with user-centric web design.

Background & Context

As someone passionate about both technology and communication, I noticed a gap in the digital media space: many tech websites either catered to seasoned professionals with dense technical language or leaned toward sensationalism without depth. I envisioned TechsCurrent as a middle ground — a site that respected its readers’ intelligence but avoided unnecessary complexity.

The pandemic era further accelerated digital adoption across industries and age groups, highlighting a real need for platforms that could demystify emerging tech trends, cybersecurity developments, productivity tools, and more. Planning & Design Approach

The design philosophy behind TechsCurrent centered on readability and usability.

I structured the homepage to prominently feature the latest articles, trending topics, and categorized news sections. Navigation was kept intuitive and minimal, allowing users to browse by topics such as Mobile, AI, Cybersecurity, Productivity, and Reviews.

Branding used a modern yet approachable style: clean sans-serif typography, a neutral color palette accented with bold highlights, and ample white space for a clutter-free reading experience.

Wireframing helped ensure that the user experience prioritized quick access to information, with card-style layouts and prominent “Read More” prompts guiding users to full articles.

Development & Implementation

TechsCurrent was built using WordPress, chosen for its robust content management capabilities and flexibility. I selected a lightweight, performance-focused theme as a base and customized it heavily to align with the brand’s aesthetic and functional needs.

Key customizations included:

• Custom homepage layout featuring dynamic article blocks.
• Integration of SEO best practices, including structured data for rich snippets.
• Optimized images and lazy loading to ensure fast page speeds.
